Line Lead Enjoys Fast-Paced Factory Atmosphere
Say hello to Alice Wedemeyer, one of our hard-working factory employees. Alice is the line leader of sheet metal which means she’s the first person to start setting up a new order. She runs the laser, shear and turret – which helps cut the sheet metal to the order’s exact specifications. In addition, Alice also drives a forklift and helps load and unload any products that are either shipping out or coming in to the factory.
She began working here seven years ago. Prior to working at Percival, Alice worked at various jobs including the Fareway meat counter for over 12 years! She was also a manager at Subway and a grocery store. She graduated from East Greene High School – which has since consolidated into Greene County Community Schools in Jefferson, Iowa – and currently resides in the area.
Alice says working as a line leader at Percival is, “…fast paced and I have to be really organized. And that’s exactly how I like to work!” Sitting down is not an option. In addition, another big benefit to her job is the set work hours, as her previous job required her to work overnights. Most importantly, the atmosphere is what makes Alice come to work day-in and day-out. “I have made some really good friends here.”
Jesse Smith, the VP of Manufacturing, commented on Alice’s hard-work and determination by adding that she, “…exemplifies our need to have a sense of urgency to deliver a high quality product to our customers in a timely manner so that they can conduct the important research that benefits all of society.”
Alice says she loves being outdoors and when the weather allows for it, that’s where you’ll find her when she’s not at work. Camping and kayaking with her family is just a couple of activities she loves to do! Besides this, Alice also really likes to repurpose furniture and home remodeling. More specifically, she loves tiling floors and painting.

Fun Facts: Alice loves the color green and Mexican food. She has a variety of pets including a cat named Kitty, two dogs named Max and Ada and TWO CHICKENS! Alice says the famous person she would most like to meet is Betty White.
