Meet Jacob Heim, one of Percival Scientific’s Design Engineers. Upon graduating from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Technology Management, Jake joined Percival in 2008.

As a design engineer, Jake processes chamber sales orders which include preparing the electrical and refrigeration systems, diagrams, designing the chambers, and creating the bill of materials. This is all done before the chambers are manufactured-to-order in Percival’s factory. Jake also performs standard design updates and provides assistance to production personnel during the manufacturing process.

What Jake loves most about working at Percival is that, “I get to be creative with the chamber designs that we manufacture. Many of our chambers are get very complex with the wide variety of add-on options. Many times I have to think outside the box to incorporate each customer’s specific research needs. My role gives me the opportunity to come up with the new and innovative ideas to meet those needs.”

When Jake isn’t hard at work designing chambers, you can find him spending time with friends and family. He’s married with two kids, a daughter (7) and son (5), who keep him busy attending their numerous activities. Jake also enjoys watching sports, playing card games, weight lifting and hunting.

Thank you Jake for your years of hard work and dedication to Percival Scientific and helping Create Better Science!

Fun Fact:Jake loves the color orange and his favorite television show is That 70’s Show.
